Battle Rock Galaxy
Battle Rock Barrage
Your first task is to collect the five Pull Star pieces from these space saucers. There’s one on each of the six saucers, except for the second one. Make sure to check their undersides as well. Once you’ve assembled the Pull Star, use it to reach the Launch Star.

You’ll land on the underside of another saucer. Run to the top and bounce off the enemy here up to a sauser above. Run to this one’s topside and perform a screw attack on the blue screw to get this baby moving.

So here’s the deal: You’re going to have to run around this saucer as it travels in order to avoid the obstacles. The first portion is pretty tranquil, so grab all the Star Bits you can – these can be used to destroy the cannon-balls being launched.

You’ll soon reach a wall blocking the top half, so have Mario go underneath the saucer. Now return to the top to avoid an electric red barrier.

Run under the saucer to evade another yellow electric fence, then back on top for another red one, then back under for the duration of the ride.

When the saucer comes to a stop, leap to another nearby saucer to spot a Power Star trapped in a cage. No, you can’t have it yet; instead, jump to another saucer ahead and lure a Bullet Bill back to that cage to destroy it, releasing the star (you may have to have the Bullet Bills destroy a few other cages blocking the way first though).

Breaking into the Battle Rock
Grab the bob-omb from the saucer ahead and quickly carry it to a caged Launch Star on the far platform. Set the bomb down there to destroy the cage, allowing you to launch from the star.

You’ll land on a multi-colored planet right next to a caged Luma. Grab the bob-omb from the green portion of the planet and set it down next to the Luma on the red part to free him. As thanks, he’ll transform into a Sling Star you can use to fire up to a Launch Star above.

After landing on the saucer, use the nearby Pull Stars to navigate through this mine-laden field to a Launch Star. The key to making it through safely is to take your time and keep activating a Pull Star until Mario comes to a complete stop, otherwise he’ll keep on floating right into a mine. You may also want to grab the Power-Up mushroom from the corner, but you likely won’t need it if you follow our advice. When at the Launch Star, target the Pull Star opposite it to pull Mario into it.

You’ll land inside a weird machine-type planet. Go down the nearby warp pipe along the left wall.

![]() |
| Star Bit Switch: You can’t reach the red switch here with a mere jump alone. Instead, try performing a back flip by it, then a spin-jump midair to reach it. Ground-pound the switch to cause several Star Bits to appear. |
![]() |
After warping, you’ll find a caged cannon in the center. Grab a Bob-omb from either side of the room and set it down next to the cannon to destroy it. Now hop into the cannon and target the crystallized Launch Star in the middle of the room. Since it’s moving around, try leading it (targeting it where you think it will be) by about one second. If you’re successful, you’ll partially destroy it, but one more hit is required.

After landing on the other side of the room, destroy the cage with another Bob-omb and hop into the cannon. The crystal’s smaller now, but target like before to destroy it for good, revealing the Launch Star – launch from it to leave this place and head to the final planet.

After landing, grab the nearby bob-omb and quickly jump over the electric beams to the rocket’s nose, and drop the bomb by another caged cannon.

![]() |
| 1-Up: Destroy the crystals surrounding the 1-Up by the cannon with a bomb. |
![]() |
Hop into the cannon and launch toward the Power Star ahead once all the rotating debris and revealed a path.

Topmaniac and the Top Man Tribe
Ignore the moles, and jump across the two saucers ahead to find a Pull Star above. Follow the Pull Star trail up to a saucer above.

Run to the top side of the saucer and leap into the Sling Star above the enemy to launch to a second saucer ahead. Ride this slow moving saucer to the third one containing a Launch Star, but watch out for the mines along the way.

You’ll land on a planet with a Luma trapped behind an electric barrier and a single enemy. This guy’s harmless unless you jump on him, but he’s also the key to saving the Luma. Knock him into the barrier with a spin attack to destroy it, freeing the Luma who will transform into a Launch Star.

After landing on the small wooden platform, break the box in the corner (closest to the mole) to reveal a Wrap Pipe you can travel down.

Get ready for another gravity-defying side-scrolling portion. Star off by flipping the switch on the right to reverse the gravity and pull Mario to the floor.

Continue right past the flames and over the moving barriers up to a giant rotating wheel. Wait for the opening to rotate toward you, then quickly dash across. Do the same for the wheel immediately, then flip the switch along the back wall to be pulled to the ceiling.

![]() |
| Shortcut! Right after the first spinning flame, crouch down on the first moving platform (or the nearby block) and perform a back flip when it rises to its tallest point. Now land on the ? box right above the flames, then perform one more back flip to reach the ceiling for a sweet shortcut. Head left from here to continue on.
|
![]() |
Now this part’s tricky, as the moving platforms on the ceiling will push you into the “down” pulling portions, thereby forcing you to repeat part of the level. Take your time and only cross the platforms when they’re full receded, and be sure not to use any high jumps. The final platform is too long to cross in a single go, so hang out in the little indents between dashes to avoid being pulled to the floor.

After being pulled high to the ceiling, use extreme caution, as the red & white strapped platforms will kill you if you’re on them while they rise to the ceiling (or floor). As such, wait on the yellow platforms until the striped ones are fully receded, then quickly dash across. After crossing the final set of striped platforms, bounce off the enemy to drop to a pipe below.

Carefully jump over the energy waves and bounce off the central enemy up to a Sling Star, which will shoot you to a moving platform.

You’ll end up in a room with two enemies, surround by an electric barrier. Knock both of them into the barrier with spin attacks to take it down, then launch from the Launch Star beyond, which leads to the boss’s home planet.

Once there, leap over the electric barriers to the planet’s topside. Look for an entrepenuring Luma near the staircase who will sell you a 1-Up or Power-Up mushroom for 30 Star Bits each. Now climb the staircase into the arena for the boss battle.

![]() |
| Boss: Topmaniac Despite his rough exterior, Topmaniac is a pushover. However, unlike his minions, this guy has spikes on his side which will hurt you. However, he also has a glaring weakness: the huge red button on his head which cause the spikes to retract. As such, simply jump on him to retract the spikes, then spin attack him into the barrier three times for victory. However, he will summon two foes on the third round, so be ready.

Topmaniac’s Daredevil Run
| About Daredevil Comets: When you access a Galaxy while a Daredevil coin is in orbit, you’ll have to partake in a challenge to complete part of the level with only one bar of health. That means you can’t take a single hit! And there’s also no power-up mushrooms, and coins will be of no help. So exercise extreme caution! |
![]() |
This Daredevil Comet takes place at the very end of Battlerock Galaxy’s third star. Aside from the whole “can’t take any damage” thing, there are no differences. As such, we’re just going to provide a few tips below to help prevent you from taking damage, but you shouldn’t have any trouble completing this level otherwise. But if you need a refresher, please check out our walkthrough for the third star.
Tips!
- Ignore Topmaniac’s minions completley, as they just waste time.
- Jump on Topmaniac ASAP and spin attack him into the barrier immediately after. As soon as he recovers, jump on him again and repeat until he goes down for the count.

Purple Coins on Battlerock
| About Purple Coin Comets: When you access a Galaxy while a Purple Coin comet is in orbit, you’ll have to partake in a challenge to collect 100 purple coins in a specified part of the Galaxy. There are no checkpoints, so be careful, otherwise you’ll have to collect all 100 coins again if you die. Also, a few of these challenges are timed and may have more than 150 purple coins total. In these cases, you do not have to collect them all; you still only need 100 total. |
![]() |
In this stage, you’ll have to collect 100 purple coins while riding on a flying saucer. You’ll have to run all around it and make some tricky jumps in order to grab all the coins.
![]() #1-28The first 28 coins are all on the top side of the saucer and easy to get. Just make sure to jump for any in mid-air. |
![]() |
![]() #29-42Drop to the side of the comet for the coin just below the wall, then return to the top for the next 13 – just follow the trail. |
![]() #43-60Head underneath again for a line of coins, followed by a circle of them. Don’t worry about the Power-Up mushroom here, as it’s unlikely you’ll take much damage. |
![]() |
![]() #61-66Return to the top of the saucer for another ring of coins and a 1-Up. |
![]() #67-73These next few are tricky. Line yourself up with the next two coins, then turn around and duck down. As soon as you grab the second coin, perform a backflip (and hold right afterward) to sail over the electric fence while grabbing the three coins mid-air, then nab the two just after. |
![]() |
![]() #74-89Run through the two lines of coins, then leap over the electric barrier for a few more, and grab the line just after. |
![]() #90-100Same deal here, line yourself up with the coin just before the fence, perform a backflip there to grab the remaining few. |
Battlrrock’s Garbage Dump
Use the bob-omb on the far saucer and launch form the Launch star to the multi-colored comet. Now look for a secret Launch Star on the yellow portion of the planet, which will fire you off to a trash covered planet.

The droid here needs your help; it seems the planet’s been covered in trash, and you’ll have to blow it away within 30 seconds. This can be very, very difficult, since the Bob-ombs take forever to explode. Thankfully, there’s a trick.

Do you see the gold emblems on the ground? That’s where you should toss the Bob-ombs. Toss one on each of the five gold emblems – if your aim is true, the bombs will destroy all of the nearby trash, thereby completing this level well within the time limit.

Luigi Under the Saucer
So Luigi’s somehow gotten himself stranded under one of the saucers in Battlerock’s first star mission. Proceed to the end of the level and look for him trapped in a cage underneath the second to last saucer. To set him free, head to the last saucer and catch one of the Bullet Bill’s attention. Now run under saucer and long jump to Luigi, then quickly get out of the way just before the Bullet Bill connects to break Luigi out.

Beach Bowl Galaxy
Sunken Treasure
Finding five Launch Star shards is the name of the game. Check below for where they’re all at.
![]() Look for the first on the ocean floor, just below the second half of the wooden bridge. |
![]() |
![]() The second star piece is in a box on the ocean floor, right by a penguin (near the first star piece). |
![]() Look for the third in a bubble on the ocean floor, just off the dock from the large penguin. |
![]() |
![]() Inside a clam on the ocean floor, on the opposite side of the planet from where you start. . |
![]() The final piece is located in a bubble, right in front of the tunneled eel (near the clam). |
After grabbing all five, a Launch Star will appear in the center of the ocean floor. Fire from it to reach another part of this planet.

Follow the walkway up to a ledge containing a switch. Push the switch with a ground pound to cause a walkway to appear temporarily, which you can use to reach the ledge above. Quickly run back along the path (and around the large stone thing) to the walkway’s entrance, and follow it to the ledge above.

![]() |
| Shortcut! Forget the switch! Instead, you can leap to the ledge above by either using a back flip or side-jump, then spinning in air! Do this once more for the ledge above to quickly reach the star! |
![]() |
![]() |
| 1-Up: Grab the ? Coin to cause a line of musical notes to appear. Grab them all to spawn a 1-Up. Use the nearby switch to create a walkway you can use to reach it. |
![]() |
Once on the ledge above the first switch, pound another to create two wooden structures you can wall-jump between to reach the ledge above. Bust open the crystal here for a star.

Passing the Swim Test
Speak with the large penguin coach on the dock to engage in a “swimming test.” To ace this baby, you’ll have to retrieve a gold shell being used by a student penguin under the sea. Dive into the water and look for a daisy-chain of four penguins swimming in a line near the ocean floor (either near the center, or by the eels).

Swim close and perform a spin attack on the one holding the shell to take it from him. Now ride it back to the large penguin coach to nab this star.

The Secret Undersea Cavern
Dive into the water and grab any of the numerous shells (such as the one in the center of the ocean floor) then throw it at the cracked wall on the ocean floor, just below the waterfall to reveal a secret cavern.

Swim through the secret cavern up to a fence. Bust open the boxes on the right to reveal an opening, leading to the other side. Pound the switch here, then use the Launch Star that appears to blast off to another planet.

This strange looking world is home to several Thwomps, and some weird rolling box things. If either lands on you, it’s instant death, but thankfully the rolling boxes have an opening where there mouth should be that Mario can take refuge in as they roll on past. Furthermore, the rolling boxes won’t roll over any of the raised portions of the level, so use these sections to plan your next move.
Follow the path underneath the first thwomp, then prepare for your first encounter with a rolling box. Wait for the box to roll away, then hang out on the second tile beyond the first raised section – this tile is where the box’s mouth will land, so it’s safe. Wait for the box to roll over you, then follow the path up to a series of moving platforms.

![]() |
| 1-Up The first green platform on the left leads to a 1-Up. But make sure to jump back across, as it disappears once stepped on. |
![]() |
![]() |
| Note for the Impatient: Yeah, we know, waiting for a safe time to pass by the rolling blocks can be boring. So if you’re impatient, you can actually follow them up to a corner, then simply jump around them to the path around the bend. |
![]() |
We suggest crossing only when the large sections roll into place. This way, you won’t have to jump over anything, thereby preventing an accidental fall. When on the last portion, ride it around to short staircase.

Watch out for another rolling block just beyond the staircase which rolls around this section perpetually. Head left to avoid meeting it head on, then run up a ramp to the next raised section.

For the remainder of the level, you can either strictly follow the path, taking refuge inside the blocks mouths as they roll around, or take a much easier (and faster) shortcut. Whenever you reach one of the green, vanishing platforms, long jump off of it to another on the other side. Just keep heading in the same direction using this method to easily bypass both the blocks, and most of this level.

After the final green platform, follow the path underneath one more Thwomp, then bust open the crystal for your star.
Fast Foes on the Cyclone Stone
| About Fast Foe Comets: When you access a Galaxy while a Fast Foe comet is in orbit, you’ll have to battle through one of the previous challenges you’ve already accomplished, except now the enemies move ultra fast. |
![]() |
This Fast Foe Comet takes place on the Thwomp Planet of Beach Bowl’s third star. Aside from the whole “enemies moving fast” thing, there are no differences. As such, we’re just going to provide a few tips below to help you get through this without dying, but you shouldn’t have any trouble completing this level otherwise. However, if you need a refresher, please check out our walkthrough for the third star.
- The raised portions of the level are safe from the rolling blocks, so use these to plot your next move.
- Use long jumps across the green vanishing platforms to quickly cross most of the level.
Beachcombing for Purple Coins
| About Purple Coin Comets: When you access a Galaxy while a Purple Coin comet is in orbit, you’ll have to partake in a challenge to collect 100 purple coins in a specified part of the Galaxy. There are no checkpoints, so be careful, otherwise you’ll have to collect all 100 coins again if you die. Also, a few of these challenges are timed and may have more than 150 purple coins total. In these cases, you do not have to collect them all; you still only need 100 total. |
![]() |
![]() #1-25Circle the floating platforms and islands, check on top of the tree near the starting point, then jump off the large penguin’s head for the first 25 coins |
![]() |
![]() #26-29Grab onto the vine and swing it around to grab two coin circles, one above the other, for 23 coins. |

#50-54
Look for five coins on the ocean floor, around the center’s perimeter.
![]() #55Look for a single coin in this corner, left of the waterfall. |
![]() |
![]() #56Another is directly behind the waterfall. Perform a back flip then spin to grab it. |
![]() ![]() #57-65Look for several coins along the stone walkway above the first waterfall, one on a floating wood platform, then two in the pool. |
![]() #66-67Two coins can be found on the steps on the right side of the pool, above the first waterfall. |
![]() |
![]() #68-75The swing on the right side of the waterfall is the key to these coins. Look for one below, then grab onto the swing and swing as high as you can for more, then finally leap to the platform in the water ahead for the coin on top. |
![]() #76-81Look for several more coins on the tops of these palm trees. Get to them by using the spring to jump up to the next level, ditch the power-up, then long-jump to the tree tops. |
![]() |
![]() #82-93Grab the coins on the mid-level. Look for them along the ledge, in the water, and use the spring power-up to grab the ones above the rock. |
![]() #94-97Jump up the ledges on the left side of the mid-level to find two coins on each. |
![]() |
![]() #97-100Use the spring power-up to leap onto the tree on the top level for the final three coins. |
Wall Jumping Up Waterfalls
This secret star is easy to miss. Grab one of the nearby shells from the ocean, then climb up the ledge, right of the waterfall, to find a treasure chest. Bust it open with the shell, and use the Launch Star that appears to blast off to an uncharted planet.

You’ll land near a ? Coin too high to reach with a normal jump. So head right until you come across the dock, and lure him back to the coin. Now jump on him to bounce off of him up to the coin, which causes an Ice Mario flower to appear.

Grab the flower to become Ice Mario, then run across the water to the two center waterfalls and wall-jump between them up to a Sling Star on the next level.

After using the Sling Star, wall-jump between two more waterfalls to another level above, then wall-jump off one more waterfall into another Slings Star, which will launch you to the top level.

After landing in the ice area, turn into Ice Mario one more time, then cross over to the first platform with the duck. Get his attention, then work your way to the far island, while keeping the duck hot on your tail. Once at the far island, bounce off of him to reach the star.
